SKIS
Check out the Skier Need To Know—Skis page. A few minutes spent understanding the types of skis and the options available to you, and your abilities and preferences on the mountain, will be time well spent.
Then check out the Avie’s Ski / Sports inventory in the tables below and see what catches your eye. Click on the brand name—that opens a new tab with details on the skis of interest to you.
The skis highlighted here are only the 2024/2025 skis—the new stuff—coming out this season. Avie’s Ski / Sports will also have in inventory skis from last season. Many are those that see no change from last year. While some are indeed “last year’s model” that have seen some kind of upgrade or change or have been discontinued from the manufacturers line, that doesn’t mean they don’t ski well or have lost their “magic” over the summer!
If you are considering a new set of sticks come on in to Avie’s Ski / Sports and get yourself fitted for some skis. Avie’s staff are dedicated to fitting you with the gear that’s best for how you ski, and how you aspire to ski. We will inspire you to get there with the right combination of skis and boots.

SKI BINDINGS
2024/2025 BINDINGS
Ski bindings attach you to the ski. It sounds pretty simple, but a ski binding is a lot more than a basic clamping mechanism. A primary function is taking the energy from your legs, through the ski boots, and transferring it to the skis. A secondary function—but a hugely important one—is to release the boot from the ski binding. Such as when you take a tumble. Just as important, it is critical that the ski binding NOT release the boot when you are skiing. Furthermore, if you are into backcountry skiing, then you need an articulated binding that allows you to “skin” your way uphill but provides all the same technical wizardry to allow you to then ski downhill. See “Skier Need To Know—Flat vs System Ski” if you want a lot more details.
Avie’s carries in stock a range of ski bindings to suit all your needs, from backcountry to frontside cruising. See the table below to see what is on hand right now. Need something else, like Marker Jester because you need a higher DIN setting? No worries. We can get that in a jiffy and get you out on the hill playing in the snow.

SKI BOOTS
BRING SOCKS YOU WILL SKI OR RIDE IN ON THE MOUNTAIN Avie’s does not provide socks for trying on and being fitted for ski or ride boots. Please bring your own pair or be prepared to purchase socks for your fitting.
Boots—believe it or not—are the most important part of your ski package, and usually, and wrongly, considered as of importance only after picking out the skis. The reality is that the boots control the skis. We cannot stress enough the importance of your ski boots. You will not get the best performance out of your skis unless they are well matched to a pair of ski boots. You can’t drive a race ski with a beginner boot, and a beginner can’t make any ski behave with their feet stuck into a pair of race boots.
We suggest you check out the Skier Need To Know—Boots page. A few minutes spent considering boot fit, and the options available, will be time well spent. Also take a look at Gripwalk—new changes to boots and ski bindings create some new considerations and possible challenges for matching older ski bindings to new boots.
Then come back here and check out the Avie’s Ski / Sports boot inventory and see what catches your eye. Click on the brand name—this will open a new tab with more detail on the boots that interest you.
The boots highlighted here are only the 2023/2024 boots—the new stuff—coming out this season. Avie’s Ski / Sports will also have in inventory boots from last season. Many have seen no change from last year, while some are indeed “last year’s model” that this year see some kind of upgrade or change or been discontinued from the manufacturers line. Doesn’t mean they don’t ski well or have lost their “magic” over the summer!
If you are looking to pick up a pair of ski boots, come on in to Avie’s Ski / Sports and let us help your feet into a pair of well fitting boots. Plan to stay a while when you get fitted for boots—a half hour to an hour. This is one decision you really don’t want to rush.

Want to quickly customize your boots for a great fit? Pick up a pair of SuperFeet winter boot inserts at Avie’s Ski / Sports. Guaranteed to make you say “Whoa, that feels nice!” High, mid, and low arch inserts available. Powder magazine says “One of the best, but most overlooked, solutions to a good fit is investing in a custom footbed. They provide a natural stance within the boot, which further aids in matching your foot to the boot last.” They aren’t kidding.
SKI POLES
2024/2025 SKI POLES
Ski poles have a bigger purpose than just pushing you along in the lift line. Used properly, they set up your turns, provide balance, and set a rhythm and cadence to your turns. The right pole makes a difference. This season Avie’s Ski / Sports will carry an array of ski poles from SWIX, SCOTT, and LEKI manufacturers. Aluminum is the “go to” material as it is inexpensive and rugged. But it is heavy. Composites are made of fiberglass mixed with carbon and/or graphite, and make for a much lighter pole. They also provide a bit of flex, which is a benefit when skiing hard and making lots of fast and/or tight turns. The down side is they are a bit more expensive. But you make that choice. And Avie’s Ski / Sports has many, many ski pole choices to choose from.
