While there are still some pockets of snow to play in at Killington and a few other spots in northern New England, it really is time to plunge into and enjoy the change to warmth. And with that change comes chaos at Avie’s Ski / Sport as gear for summer and winter get swapped about the store. Despite the chaos, it’s a good time to pop in and see what’s up.
A variety of winter gear is marked down. Certain jackets and other outerwear items are sporting reduced prices, as are certain skis and related products. Come in and browse the cold weather stock as it does its’ seasonal migration within the shop. You may find a bargain on something you might want for next season on the slopes.
But let’s not forget about the season that’s just starting to unroll before us. Ted has been taking delivery of a constant parade of new standup paddle boards, surf boards, and similar items. There are some really beautiful standup paddle boards coming into the shop right now. I mean really nice. If standup paddle is on your list of fun for this season, stop in and check them out while the stock is fresh. I think some of them will find homes quickly.
Of course there is tennis gear, swim gear, scuba and free dive gear to browse. Sandals, sunglasses and other personal wear is flowing into the shop like high tide at Misquamicut State Beach. And this year something new will make its’ debut at Avie’s —– kayaks.
Yes, kayaks. Not the big, long sea-going ocean kayaks. But their shorter brethren, more in the 10-foot and under range, that are fun for playing around in the rivers, bays, lakes, and ponds that dot southern Connecticut and Rhode Island. Pick one of these up and paddle over to Sandy Point for a sunset picnic. Summer doesn’t get much better than that! Another nice thing about shorter kayaks—they make for big fun playing in the surf.
Stop by and seek out Ted and Eric amidst the chaos of boxes piled up all over the shop. See what’s on sale and what’s new for the season. The warmth and sun and fun of sea breeze drenched afternoons will be upon us before we know it. Shop early at Avie’s for best selection of sizes, colors, and styles.
And don’t forget to check out them pretty new paddle boards.
